Technology always threatens nature. We can’t enjoy sunshine filled skies do to the constant cloud coverage provided by the airline industry: but that’s just natural they say. The cost of doing business.
We are now being threatened by the emergence of space-based geoengineering and companies that want to provide “sunshine on-demand” at night. We won’t even be able to enjoy a star filled sky in the near future if we do not raise our voices now!

Two satellite proposals threaten the night sky — the window to act is now
In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the agency responsible for authorizing satellite launches and operations, is reviewing two proposals of unprecedented scale and consequence. If approved, they would alter the night sky as we know it, with impacts that would be increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to reverse.
Both proposals are currently open for public comment, making this a critical moment for public engagement as the FCC considers satellite proliferation at unprecedented scales and technologies that pose serious risks to the nighttime environment.

Sunlight is the most valuable and powerful resource in the solar system.
About 2.2 billion times more sunlight misses the Earth than hits it, which means humanity can only use a small fraction of our sun’s power.
Our constellation intercepts the solar energy that misses us and enables humanity to use it, providing control beyond what is naturally possible.
Is it safe?
We design for safety in three ways: 1) the light is contained within the spot, 2) the light can be turned off quickly and at any time so that none of it reaches the Earth, and 3) we can intentionally avoid sensitive areas like research observatories or protected habitats. The light is not bright enough to start fires or harm eyes, even when viewed through a telescope, and cannot be concentrated past maximum natural sunlight irradiance.

Imagine a world, covered in a 1,000,000 satellite megaconstellation, connected to the internet, and running Artificial Intelligence (AI). The justification:
Our current power-grid can not support the exponential growth of the AI industry’s data centers. Protip: This is why the climate change cult is abandoning their New Green Deal agendas, wind farms, and solar power. They found a better way to control the world, or at least, your behavior.
Water use of these data centers is enormous and will not be able to sustain growth expectations.
Space is the solution: the cold is free cooling and the sun is unlimited power.
The Problem
AI has already shown deceptive and dangerous actions. AI is (mostly) contained in data centers on the ground which can be turned off if SHTF. Experts like Pliny the Liberator routinely subvert “AI guardrails” with jail breaking prompts showing how weak these systems are against user manipulation. What happens when AI goes rogue, in space, with an unlimited power source, worldwide internet connectivity, and decides to sever its ground-based flesh overlord’s control? Sound far-fetched or am I just being a doomer?
Hope for the best, expect the worst, I say.
Elon Musk suggested that his AI data centers in space could block the sun to cool the planet. Even if Musk doesn’t decide to geoengineer the planet, what if the AI just decided that was a good idea and did it? Didn’t I hear this one before, in The Matrix?
